For a unique backcountry scenic drive, you definitely don't want to overlook a trip through the Moose River Plains! This 24-mile dirt road runs from Inlet to Indian Lake, through some of the most pristine woodlands in the Adirondacks. This a perfect spot for a bike ride, scenic drive in your vehicle, or snowmobile in winter.
How to get there
To access from Inlet, take Route 28N toward Raquette Lake. Turn left onto Limekiln Lake Road. After 2.0 miles, the road name will switch to Moose River Road and you'll be on your way!
To access from Indian Lake, take Routes 28N/ 30S toward Blue Mountain Lake. 2.5 miles from the main intersection in town, turn left onto Cedar River Road.
Description
This is a dirt road and therefore caution should be taken. The speed limit is 15mph and should be followed; sometimes the road is rough in unexpected places. This road is seasonal and open from Memorial Day to the close of deer hunting season each year.
In winter, this becomes a popular snowmobiling route.
