Take a Trip!
With Presidents week coinciding with Valentine's Day, it's the ideal time to escape! With so much to do and see, it's a great opportunity for a romantic getaway, even if you are on a budget!
Head up to oak!
Make your way up to Oak Mountain on February 13th to kick off your weekend right! Enjoy all the activities that their Winter Carnival has to offer. For only $14 you can get a tubing pass for 4 hours —you can't beat that! If you get too cold, head inside to the Acorn Pub for some delicious food prepared for you by Chef Lou (I love the Ridge Runner Pizza!) and grab a delicious craft beer on tap. If you stick around long enough, you will be able to hear some great tunes from The Old Main, taking the stage at 7pm.
Indian Lake
On Sunday the 14th, head north to Indian Lake for SnoCade! The Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring a Winter Wonderland Craft Show where you can find the perfect gift for that special someone. For some hilarious entertainment, make your way over to the Ski Hill at 1 o'clock to check out the Redneck Cardboard and Duct Tape Sled Races!
Don't be late getting to the Indian Lake Theater for a FREE showing of Grease (How can you say no to that!?!) at 2:30 pm. Get there early to grab some great seats, and make sure to stick around for the dance party! After the movie, if you haven't filled up on popcorn, head down the street to Marty's Chili Nights for an enchilada or chimichanga paired with one of their 13 specialty Jose Cuervo Margaritas! Yum! Or you can grab one of their specialty Mexican sodas if one of their 50+ (!!) tequilas doesn't strike your fancy!
Frostfest at the Adirondack Museum
Monday morning make your way to Frost Fest at the Adirondack Experience, The Museum on Blue Mountain Lake, where you can partake in the free activities they have to offer! Most of the exhibits will be open free of charge so make sure you plan some time to walk around and check them out. There will be plenty of indoor activities such as making s'mores, a scavenger hunt, a life size snow globe for photo ops and more! If you are feeling brave enough to face to cold, head outside to play in the snow with some snowshoes, build a snowman, or look for some animal tracks in the snow.
Stay for the day or for the week!
If you can stick around longer than just the weekend, make sure you check out all that SnoCade has to offer or stop back at Oak to hit the slopes. They will be open all week on both the mountain and tubing hill. Make sure you make your lodging reservations now!
