Hiking
Start on the main trail and be sure to turn right onto the trail for Beaver River, which will come in on the right in about 0.5 miles. The intersection is well marked, but there is no mention of Oswego Pond on signs.
The trail climbs quite a bit from the intersection, then descends as it climbs over a small hogback. The pond is shortly after that.
There is a reroute that is marked with orange flagging because the beavers have been busy. This reroute goes to a small stream that requires rock hopping to cross. The valley prior to the pond is also a wonderful area for photography and animal viewing.
A small herd path leads down to the east shore of Oswego Pond. The main trail continues for several miles to Beaver River.
How to get there
From the intersection of Route 28 and Big Moose Road, just west of Inlet, follow Big Moose Road. Turn right on Twitchell Road in about 7.5 miles and follow it to its end, at the boat launch on Twitchell Lake. The trailhead is located here.
