Frequent depth changes make trolling for many species difficult, but the shallow areas (mainly in the southwest portion of the lake) make for fantastic smallmouth bass fishing. 

Getting there

From the intersection of Route 28 and Route 30 follow Route 28 toward Raquette Lake. Continue for 0.25 miles to the public beach on the right for canoe/kayak launch. For motorboat launching you will need to use the local marina a bit further up Route 28 (fees may apply).

Fishing

Shoreline fishing is limited to near the town beach area or off the Castle Rock Trail on the north side. The north side would require a hike of around 1-mile to a limited access corridor. Shore fishing is not the best of options.

Car-top boat access near the town beach is the only access point to launch a canoe or kayak. To launch a motor boat there is a private marina but fees will be required to launch. Fishing from a boat is really the only good option. If you are in search of rainbow trout you will need to be near the outlet by Eagle Lake or near the inlets of the small streams and brooks where the water is cooler.

Species: lake trout, brook trout, smallmouth bass, brown bullhead, landlocked salmon, rainbow smelt, pumpkinseed, and yellow perch.

Every year this lake is stocked with lake trout and landlocked salmon.

Much of the shore is private property, please respect.
